“Lincoln has to compete with other communities for talented workers and many of those cities have protections in place based on sexual orientation.”
– Beatty Brasch, Executive Director of Center for People In Need
You did it. You made history. Lincoln joins the ranks of 163 other communities by having protections for LGBT people. You did what needed to be done to Make Lincoln Fair.
Mayor Chris Beutler is signing the Fairness Ordinance this afternoon after a 5 to 0 vote on the city council. In the coming months, expect forums with Lincoln's office of Human Rights to educate us on how to file a complaint, should someone be faced with discrimination.
In the meantime, I hope you will join us to celebrate! Join us on Thursday, May 17th at Embassy Suites at 6pm in Regency room A.
On Thursday, give a gift to Outlinc as part of Give to Lincoln Day and part of your gift will be matched to increase the benefit for Lincoln's LGBT community! Only gifts given through the Give to Lincoln page on May 17 will be eligible for the match. Thank you for everything you have done to Make Lincoln Fair.
